Secret Garden Postcard 4 - Colouring Challenge

Oh yes Postcard Number 4! I will catch up to Kayla.
Using these postcards to motivate me into being productive is working pretty well now and I'm on a roll.

This time I decided to go with one of the designs that I have to admit I had been avoiding due to the tiny thin flower stems.

See how fiddly and tiny they are!  So I am already planning a shopping list for when Kayla and myself make another trip to London and to Cass Arts as the pens she used in her last postcard look fantastic.

So there we have it, postcard number four, You had better get colouring and quick Kayla!  As I am starting to speed through these postcards now! Speaking of that, does anyone have suggestions for the next colouring book I could use?

Colouring Challenge - Secret Garden Postcard - 5

So, although I appreciate the fact that Emma would love to catch up with me - I cannot allow this happen at least not without a fight. I have been eyeing this page up since the second one I did and finally plucked up the courage to do it.

With the line that pretty much separates the two sections, I wanted to out a different spin on this page compared to what I would normally do. So I started with two colours and used three pens on each of the two sections. This gave me a chance to try and incorporate a little bit more tone into the page. :D

I don't know if Emma will have noticed but I have been using my Faber-Castell connector pens for this page. Yes the box of pens I brought like two London trips ago and only just got around to trying out.

Now time for the pink part -

Absolutely love this one - think I will go as far to say it is my favourite so far.

Secret Garden Postcard 3 - Colouring Challenge

I finished my third postcard today! Oh yes Kayla, I will catch you up soon.  I chose to use a mix of watercolour pencil (for the background) and Pro-Markers for the flowers.  I have some fine-liner tips to use with the Pro-Markers making them much easier to use on the postcard I chose.

I also went with shades of blue and purple overall as I was looking back over my last two postcards and felt that it was all getting a bit peachy.  That said, I am already thinking of what to do with my next postcard and I am very tempted to go all out with bright pink!

Now because I have been using Pro-Markers I lay a sheet of plain paper under the postcard I'm colouring to protect the next postcard from any colours that bleed through.  However I do this paper insert thing for every sketchbook.  Does anyone else use this 'trick' or just me?

If you do, then does your spare sheet of paper also get covered in scribbles and marks where either the ink has seeped through the page but also the random marks of either making a pen work again, or seeing how bright that yellow really is?

By the end of this postcard book my sheet of paper will be a miss-matched rainbow of swatches, This is what mine looks like after just 3 postcards.

Sketchbook Challenge - Desserts (in-progress)

Well the challenge from Kayla to draw desserts has been a tough one!
Thanks for that Pal!

I did however start something exciting that Kayla will love, and eventually forgive me for.  But it's not finished yet.  However I felt like my sketchbook has not appeared on InkSplatterDraw for a long time.  (Read Emma's been hit with a creative block)

So here's an update into my sketchbook to get me rolling again, this way I can continue with my secret project without Kayla breathing down my neck like she has been with the colouring challenge and I can also get started on whatever Kayla decided to challenge me to draw next, because I am temporarily admitting defeat with this challenge.  It's getting me nowhere by ignoring it and not drawing at all, but this is an on-going challenge that I'll re-post and update on in a few weeks. (Promise!)

Colouring Challenge - Secret Garden Postcard - 4

So here is postcard number 4 - storming ahead of Emma bring it on!
With this one I didn't plan it out in my head or even decide before hand which colours to use and trust me it is way more relaxing!

I was actually really looking forward this one as the branch that flows through the postcard just lets your eyes glide over it and get entwined in the leaves...

Part of me prefers the closes up more as they give a whole new perspective to the postcards.

As I have already selected the next postcard I want to conquer - it is only a matter of time before you see it on here! Just to give you guys a hint - it's not the owl yet I'm saving that :D also hoping Emma will give that one a go first ;)
